Pause to Help PAWS

The sales department here at the Hotel Monteleone received word a few weeks ago that PAWS (Plaquemine Parish Animal Shelter) a no kill shelter, has been receiving a lot of dogs with pinned notes to their collars from local fishermen unable to feed them.  The Gulf oil spill has been devastating on all levels and here at the Hotel Monteleone we are determined to help.

At the Hotel Monteleone we are pet friendly and when we heard the heartbreaking news about our furry friends we wanted to contribute in any way we could. So far we have collected 676 pounds of dog food donations from our Monteleone employees and one group raised over $800. You can join us in supporting the cause!

Below is a Wish List of supplies PAWS is in need of to keep our furry friends comfortable. read the rest of this post »

Pamper Your Mom at the Monteleone

It doesn’t have to be Mother’s Day to enjoy a girl’s day out with Mom at the Monteleone. We’re here 365 days with special treats to spoil the woman who spoiled you for so long.

After a long day shopping on Royal Street or exploring the French Quarter, stop into SpaAria for a relaxing and rejuvenating  pedicure. Or go all out for the Extreme Monteleone Experience, the ultimate package including manicure, pedicure, custom facial, and full body massage or reflexology. On Mother’s Day we will have free champagne and chocolate for an even more decadently relaxing afternoon.

Do you remember your first Carousel ride? Bet your mom wasn’t far away. Treat her to a spin and a special cocktail at the Carousel Bar.  Legendary author Truman Capote used to brag over drinks that his own mother gave birth to him at Hotel Monteleone. While true that his mother did live in the hotel during her pregnancy, she safely made it to the hospital in time for Truman’s debut. In case you are too relaxed from your day, feel free to stay the night and have sweet dreams on our plush mattresses and wake to a coffee by the rooftop pool overlooking the city. Sounds pretty dreamy, right? Did we mention our Mother’s Day rates start as low as $129.

Whether born here or not, this Mother’s Day (and every other day of the year), Hotel Monteleone wishes all mothers a wonderful day!

Vieux Carré Please

Vieux Carré PleaseNew Orleans is without a doubt a land of cocktails and the birthplace of many unique and delicious drinks. One cocktail that calls New Orleans home is the Vieux Carré, which was invented during the 1930’s in the heart of the city, the French Quarter.  The Vieux Carré was invented by Walter Bergeron at the historic French Quarter Hotel, Hotel Monteleone.

The Carousel Bar at the Hotel Monteleone has lured guests in from the crowded French Quarter streets to take a spin on their bright and colorful merry-go-round for decades now, but the real treat lies in a glass. Just added by Elements, the Bar Blog, to the “classics list,” the Vieux Carré, a cocktail unique to the Crescent City, ceases to disappoint.  A drink with six ingredients, the Vieux Carré, may appear to be a bit complex for some however, most cocktail enthusiasts insists that once given a try, it will surely end up on your short list of cocktails. read the rest of this post »
